BJP's Amritsar candidate, Hardeep Singh Puri has been facing trouble with the 'outsider' tag. In diplomat-turned-politician Hardeep Puri, BJP has found a suitable candidate who can bring back the glory of the saffron party in the capital city of Punjab. In the last general elections, Arun Jaitley, one of the party stalwarts faced a crushing defeat despite a strong Modi wave. Puri who got retired in 2013 after the four-decade distinguished service in Ministry of External Affairs and Defence ventured into the politics the very next year in 2014.
