It is a Semi-Urban constituency with an approximate literacy rate of 71.34%. There are 15,25,481 voters of which 7,90,889 are male and 7,34,560 are female and 32 voters of the third gender.
Prof Chintamani Malviya of BJP (alliance: NDA) won in this seat defeating INC. BJP polled 6,41,101 of the total of 10,16,405 votes polled. INC won the seat in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
Ujjain goes to the polls in the 7st phase of the 2019 General Elections to choose the 17th Lok Sabha on Sunday, May 19, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
