Vaibhav Gehlot, son of Rajasthan CM and Congress veteran Ashok Gehlot, is making his electoral debut this Lok Sabha elections from Jodhpur. The seat is considered a stronghold for his father and he is up against BJP’s Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Gehlot junior has been an active member of Youth Congress in the state and there were rumours of him getting a ticket in 2018 Assembly polls in the state, but the entry into elections was reserved till Lok Sabha polls. But his entry won’t be as smooth as he would have liked. Shekhawat, the incumbent MP and Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, is a tall leader in the state. In the last general elections, Shekhawat took the seat from the Congress, defeating Chandresh Kumari by a margin of over four lakh votes.
